Winter Break...Osaka...Ben and Me
I really enjoy this city, even though some parts of it are pretty ugly. Before Ben’s plane arrived I wandered around the city for a day and checked out art galleries, the really nice director at CASO (Contemporary Art Space Osaka) gave me a free pass to go see a Toulouse-Lautrec show at the Suntory Museum! In July they are going to have a Gundam Art Exhibition?! This was my second time to Osaka. I am amused at the minds ability to feel at home after just one visit. So much was familiar to me from the first visit so I had an easy time getting around, well relatively :P.
Osaka castle, Ben and I. Interestingly most of the raw materials used to make this castle come from the area I currently live in on Shikoku. Utterly amazing to think of the efforts that went into making this so long ago.
It’s a sushi train! This one was actually the first one I’ve seen since I got to Japan, and it was so tasty. Perhaps the most interesting part is watching the cooks skillfully mold, roll, and dice.
My view of Ben during most of the trip. Japanese food is GOOD, and he didn’t need any convincing.
“Umm, I love rice! Maybe in my *secret lab* I can create self replicating rice that forms itself into onigiri…mu haw haw haw”
Osaka city nightscape. Most major cities in Japan come complete with a giant ferris wheel.
Swimming circles all day long at the Osaka Aquarium.
Ben left last Sunday. It’s going to be a little rough this next month while the void he left fills up. But that’s what ice-cream filled mochi is for. Not to gush, but I’m so glad to have him in my life. It was really awesome to get lost in Japan with him.
The next installment will cover our trip to Kyoto…
